At TVET Colleges (like this College) post-matriculation, theoretical training of 18 months duration is offered, after which a successful student will be in possession of the N4, N5 and N6 National Certificates. Should the student find employment in a field related to the theoretical training for 18 months, these 18 months are regarded as practical training. Proof of this practical training, together with proof of the 18 months theoretical training (copies of N4, N5 & N6 certificates), are then forwarded to the Department of Education by the College, requesting that a National Diploma be issued to the candidate.
This National Diploma is of the same standard and value as that of any diploma obtained by a student after 3 years of study anywhere. The advantage of obtaining a diploma in this manner is that thousands of rands are saved and, after 18 months, the student has hands-on experience of what is expected of an employer in that field. This diploma is presented to the student at a prestigious award ceremony held annually by the College in May.
